Glycolic acid peel

Oily skin, clogged pores and small blemishes affect your complexion? The glycolic acid peel is the solution to restore radiance. In addition to toning the complexion of the skin, the treatment allows for better absorption of skin care. How? Since it eliminates fat and dead cells that form on the skin, skin moles are refined and the treatments have a better effect. This peel helps normalize sebum production, tighten pores and reduce spots, giving you an instant “healthy glow”, and which improves over the treatments.

For a superficial exfoliation, we apply AHA fruit acid (glycolic acid, a natural product that derives from sugar cane) to the skin at a concentration of 20%, that is the maximum permitted by Health Canada. The goal is simple: to dissolve fat cells, to then tackle the layer of dead cells that forms on the surface of the skin, and then eliminate it. In addition to its visible benefits, it allows the activation of cell renewal by increasing the synthesis of collagen and the production of new cells, which gives the skin better elasticity, flexibility and smoother fine lines. We often combine other AHA treatments as this will lead to best results.

We mainly treat the face, neck and décolleté, but also the back on patients where acne would have left its scars. The treatment lasts about 30 minutes. We first clean the skin, we then apply the glycolic acid. You will feel a warming sensation. After a short break of a few minutes time, the skin is rinsed with clear water. Your skin will then be moisturized accordingly. The warming sensation will fade within an hour. Take the opportunity to inquire about the products to use during your beauty routine in order to optimize the results of the treatment. For the best results, 3 to 4 glycolic acid peel treatments are recommended, approximately every 3 weeks.

Process of the treatment

  1. Meeting with our specialist for a consultation (collection of data) and the implementation of the treatment plan according to the areas and conditions to be treated (number of treatments, duration, treatment risks, etc.)
  2. Approval of the treatment by the doctor
  3. First treatment session
  4. Follow-up on the intervention
  5. Subsequent treatment sessions, if applicable

In addition to the “sun-kissed” effect, your skin may desquamate slightly in the days following the treatment, which is why it is important to moisturize and protect your skin from ultraviolet rays. You may however apply makeup and return to your daily activities without much delay.
