Dermal fillers

Agents de comblement

Dermal fillers can be made from natural or synthetic substances. The ones we use, JuvédermMD, Restylane® and Teosyal®, are all hyaluronic acid based, a normally occurring
sugar found in your body, making them natural. These fillers add volume and shape the skin, and enhance and redefine the contours of the face too. Dermal fillers are also used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles, fine lines, as well as deep grooves.

Because of certain factors, such as exposure to pollution and UV rays, smoking, weight loss and weight gain, or simply age, the ability for the skin’s cells to produce hyaluronic acid
decreases, which causes grooves in the skin, accentuating facial features. Treating wrinkles with hyaluronic acid is done using gel injections. Once infiltrated into the skin, the gel acts as a sponge by retaining water and naturally mixes with the hyaluronic acid of the dermis.

Do not confuse dermal fillers with neuromodulators! Although the two procedures are performed by injection and are often used together, neuromodulators are used to stop the
movement of the muscles that cause wrinkles, while dermal fillers hydrate and increase the dermal volume of the skin.
